The guy at Programmers’ Stone has a fascinating piece describing work in today’s world.
…when did I stop doing real work? By that I mean something where there is some kind of product or useful output at the end of the working day. Annoyingly I couldn’t decide on a date. The problem being the gradual creep of valueless activity has infiltrated the workplace to such an extent that I feel sure many of us now live in a world of virtual work.
At the end he quotes a joke:
Someone asks: how many people work at your company?
Answer: About half of them.
It’s definitely a very nice read.
